Llanes is a council of the autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias in Spain . It holds the title of "Very noble and loyal villa". 1 It has an area of 263.59 km², 2 according to the municipal register for 2017 of the INE with 13,759 inhabitants and a density of 52.2 inhab./km².
The town of Llanes is located on the edge of the Cantabrian Sea , near the Picos de Europa , with numerous beaches and a good conservation of its monumental heritage, which makes tourism one of the largest areas of activity. Its port maintains some fishing activity.
